FAQs

Who can stay at PHHH?

PHHH is for patients and/or their family members/caregivers. Guests must have a physical address and reside at least 50 miles outside of Davidson County (the only exceptions are parents of NICU babies and stem-cell transplant patients). A social worker will refer you to PHHH and will inform you to fill out a Background Check Form on the PHHH website to start the process. Patients as guests or the caregiver’s patient must be receiving life-saving treatment at one of the local hospitals at least 3x/week to continue to be eligible to stay at PHHH. Exception: Previous guests who have received life-saving medical treatment may return to stay at PHHH for follow up doctor appointments. And it is always prudent to have a backup plan, should a room not be available at PHHH when you need one.

How can I stay at PHHH?

PHHH can only accept guests through a referral application submitted by a hospital social worker.

What do I do after the referral is sent to PHHH?

The Guest Services Coordinator at PHHH will receive your referral from a social worker and will call you to answer any questions you may have, take some personal information, and create a room request. She will refer you to our website to complete the background check authorization form. PHHH maintains a waiting list and you will be updated on the availability of a room with your requested arrival date. Please note that a request is NOT a reservation.

When do I check in?

First-time guests should make every effort to check in between the hours of 9am-3pm. The orientation paperwork and tour for your first visit may take 15-30 minutes.

How long can I stay?

At PHHH, once you have been referred, completed your background check and have been told a room is available to you, you may stay for as long as you need, as long as you or your patient is receiving care at a local hospital at least 3x/week.

We have hosted thousands of Day Services guests over the years. NOTE: This program is temporarily unavailable due to COVID-19.

Can family members take turns staying in a room?

Yes, since we limit our families to one room, we encourage you to rotate with your family.  Please notify our Guest Services Coordinator of your interest in a rotation so we may keep track of who is at PHHH and can ensure background check authorization and other information and details are current and complete.
